Why Glowing Skin Starts With the Right Routine

1. Cleanse Twice Daily — Without Over-Stripping

A gentle, pH-balanced cleanser used morning and night is the single most important step in any skincare routine. Avoid anything that leaves your skin feeling tight or squeaky-clean — that is a sign the skin barrier has been disrupted.

For oily or acne-prone skin, a salicylic acid-based cleanser used once a day (evening) can help. For dry or sensitive skin, a hydrating cream cleanser is ideal.

2. Hydration Is Non-Negotiable

Dehydrated skin looks dull, feels rough, and is more prone to irritation. A lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser with hyaluronic acid or ceramides locks in moisture without clogging pores.

Apply moisturiser within 60 seconds of washing your face — this is when the skin is most receptive to absorbing active ingredients.

3. SPF Every Single Day

Sun damage is the number one cause of premature ageing, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone. SPF 30 or higher — every day, rain or shine, indoors or outdoors.

Many patients skip sunscreen on cloudy days or when working from home. UVA rays penetrate clouds and glass, so protection is required regardless of weather.

4. Add a Vitamin C Serum in the Morning

Vitamin C is one of the most evidence-backed brightening ingredients available. Applied in the morning under SPF, it neutralises free radicals, inhibits melanin production, and boosts collagen synthesis.

Look for L-ascorbic acid at a concentration between 10–20%. Start with a lower concentration if you have sensitive skin.

5. Exfoliate Wisely

Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that dull the complexion. Chemical exfoliants (AHAs like glycolic acid, BHAs like salicylic acid) are generally more effective and less irritating than physical scrubs.

Most skin types benefit from exfoliating 2–3 times per week. Over-exfoliation weakens the skin barrier, so less is more.
